Disney World Epcot – Introduces Tomorrow

Disney World Epcot is one of the theme parks that is dedicated to international culture and technological innovation. It is the second theme park built in Disney World and opened on October 1, 1982 and was previously called EPCOT Center until 1994.

Epcot has a really rich historical background. Walt Disney’s first idea was to build an ideal community of the future that will house 20,000 residents and serve as a test bed for city planning. Epcot originally was the acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. It was so utopian that Walt Disney envisioned it as having underground automobile traffic leaving pedestrians safe above ground. After Walt Disney’s death, the Walt Disney Company decided that it did not want to be in business of a growing city. Celebration, Florida was said to be the realization of the Walt Disney’s plans of Epcot. At first it was not that clear as to whether it would be a representation of cutting edge technology as per Imagineers while others wanted it to be a showcase of the different cultures.

Epcot mainly consists of two sections: Future World and World Showcase both laid out in an hourglass shape.

Future World. The one place on earth where ideas become real. Not only do you get entertained and inspired by how human kind has come up with really witty plans but you also get to see the wonders of technology and how it has progressed and modernization.  To add up to that futuristic experience, guests enter the park seeing the park’s icon, Spaceship Earth, appearing like a silver, giant, golf ball mounting high in the sky.

World Showcase will definitely let you know more about the culture and cuisine of 11 countries around the world. Wrapped around World Showcase Lagoon are Pavilions that have shops, attractions and restaurants to embody the customs and traditions of Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United States, Japan, Morocco, France , United Kingdom and Canada. Guests will really enjoy this area most especially kids as liver performers entertain you with shows where you yourself can even join. Kidcot station, kids and even those young at heart can make their own unique souvenirs.

The possibilities here are just endless. You don’t just get busy with the attractions, rides and shows, but you also get a dose of the fine dining offered from fast food to character dining serving you from breakfast to dinner.  It is not only entertaining but very educational as well. Imagine seeing how the world modernized through a blast from the past and a zoom into the future. You get to know 11 countries all at one park and meet interesting characters. If you are a science junkie and loves to see the world, then Epcot is just the place to be.

Disney Animal Kingdom: The Perfect Zoo

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom

Disney Animal Kingdom is focused completely on nature and animal conservation, a viewpoint of Walt Disney himself. The theme park is in fact ascribed by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums which connotes that they have met the standards in education, conservation and research. It also enlightens us the importance of nature and conservation.

The theme park houses a mesmerizing 1,700 animals. But it wouldn’t be a wonder since it is said to be the largest single Disney theme park in the world covering more than 500 acres. The theme park is divided into 7 areas namely: Oasis, Discovery Island area, Camp Minnie-Mickey, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch area, Asia and Dinoland, USA area.

Oasis is the park’s main entrance. This is where they feature a couple of animal habitats for muntiacs, ducks, wallabies and giant anteaters to name a few. A Rainforest Cafe is also found at the entrance Oasis where you may dine without having to enter the theme park.

At the middle of the park is where you will find Discovery Island. Here, The Tree of Life, the park’s icon is located encircled by animal fields where you get to see kangaroos, lemurs and others. The park’s biggest souvenir shops and two of its major restaurants can be found here each with a different design. The major attraction here is It’s Tough to be a Bug!, a 4D comical film that features Flik and Hopper from Disney/Pixar’s A Bug’s Life.

If the 4D comical film wasn’t cute enough, then Camp Minnie-Mickey will surely tickle your imagination of a summer camp-Disney style! You get to meet and greet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and others. The main theatre showcases a live stage show called Festival of the Lion King that features acrobats and musical presentations inspired The Lion King.

If going on a safari was what you always wanted then Africa might just be the answer to that. Catch a Glimpse of Disney Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom

Disney Magic Kingdom is one of the first theme parks of Walt Disney World Resort. It opened its doors on October 1, 1971 and its layout and attractions are similar to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, only this time it’s built in a larger area. Each theme park in Disney World is represented by an iconic structure and Magic Kingdom has the Cinderella Castle.

Although MK’s construction started after Walt Disney’s death, his ideas about the structure were realized because he was very involved during the planning phase. Walt Disney was truly a dreamy person. According to one story, Walt Disney saw a Frontierland cowboy walking through Tomorrow land and because he wanted to keep the illusion going, he thought of using tunnels called utilidoors so that cast members of the show would not distract the guests. So basically, Magic Kingdom is elevated to 107 feet—it’s actually built on the second story to pave way to the tunnels and this was quite a challenge because of Florida’s high water table. One of the many interesting facts about this theme park!

The fascinating part doesn’t just end there, it’s just the beginning of how magical it really is. The seven Lands of MK boasts 48 mesmerizing attraction sites in 107 acres of land. The Walt Disney World Railroad would lead you around this magical place with stops at Main Street, USA, Frontierland and Mickey’s Toontown Fair. The other lands of MK are Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square and Tomorrowland. All seven of these showcase unique attractions giving guests a long list of activities to do while in Magic Kingdom.

Main Street, USA features stylistic influences from around the country like New England and Missouri. If Disneyland has an Opera House, they have the Exposition Hall. The place is lined with souvenir shops and food stands. The 20th century décor is noticeably inspired by the childhood of Walt Disney and the movie “Lady and the Tramp”. To make you fee like you’re way back time, guest relations officer in the city hall will give you info and assistance about the place. The Emporium is the one-stop shop selling various Disney souvenirs. For those who wants a “taste” of MK, Tony’s Town Square and Plaza Restaurant are sit-down resto’s that will take care of that. For the sweet tooth, Main Street’s Confectionary is just the place for you where sweets are priced by weight—really classiscal! The place even has a barber that gives a real haircut with a fee.

Adventureland – the name itself explains it all. It brings the mystery of exploring foreign lands resembling the remote jungles of Africa, Asia, Middle East, South America and South Pacific with a replica of a Carribean town square.

Frontierland is basically about the Wild West. Heehaw! From cowboys to Indians and the Rivers of America, name it they have it.

Liberty Square is all about the American Revolution. Making it more thrilling are the Haunted Mansion and the Hall of Presidents.

Fantasyland is for the young at heart. This is where you wish upon a star and your dreams will come true. The medieval/carnival style of the place will surely be the favorite spot of the kids but as of now this place is still on going expansion.

Tomorrowland is an intergalactic city where scientists are given recognition for opening the doors to space age. This place will give us a glimpse of the living blueprint of our future.

Last but not the least is Mickey’s Toontown Fair. The well-loved casts of Disney are brought to life in this place. There’s Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald. Too bad the place has to be demolished to make way for the expansion of Fantasyland.

Just before the end of Main Street stands Cinderella Castle. Placed in front of it stands the statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. A tribute to Roy O. Dinsey called “Sharing the Magic” is seen sitting with Minnie Mouse in Town Square of Main Street, USA. Don’t forget to check out The Pirates League where you can be a buccaneer or be a princess at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Take note that Magic Kingdom is just the beginning of an exhilarating experience of Disney World as it also has other theme parks as well. Excited already? Well, that was just a glimpse of what’s in store for you in Magic Kingdom.
